MDF Cut out painting

#Project366, Day4

We have been waiting to do something for holding all our keys. Though there is one key holder currently, me and kids wanted to use one of the Ganesha cut outs that I had got earlier last year to make one holder for us. And we got time to do it only for this project 366.

Painted the mdf cut out with water colour pens and decorated it with Fevicryl 3D Cones and glitter cones. It turned out really good.

MDF Ganesha painting

Painting using Ceramic Cone in MDF cut out is always a new experience. Gifted for a dear friend.

Ganesha in mdf cutout

I got two different designs of Ganesha cut out in MDF. One is a traditional design and the other a slightly different. I designed that cut out too using ceramic cone. It gave the look of the Ganeshas of Indonesia. But I liked the outcome though. Any ways Ganesha is Ganesha always for me in whatever shape he is in.

Painted wooden photo frame

I purchased MDF laser cut wooden photo frames both family size and small size. I wanted to gift a small photo frame for my friend who was pregnant. I wanted to gift her a small photo frame so that she can place the baby's pic. So I painted one of the frame using Acrylic Pearl colour and decorated it with ceramic cone. It turned out really pretty and she liked it very much.

The next step into Quilling

It all started with trying out 2D images, yes simple 2D images, I was not confident enough to make them stand alone just as I saw in the pictures, so I used MDF board and I created the image of Pillayar, my all time favourite. Cant stop making Ganehsa image in any art form. I just have to start with it what ever art from I make, and here it is.

Used the remaining green colour strips in the bunch and I made the Ganesha. Initially it was just Ganesha but then I felt I need to fill in the places I made two lamps and a bowl of Kozhukattai. As I did not have white coloured paper, I used brown paper to give the effect of fried Kozhukattai.

Ceramic Cone Art

One of kind of air clays that could be made at home is ceramic clay. This clay can be used to make Murals and name plates. But apart from using it as a clay, it can be made in a semi solid form, just like Mehandi cone, and different kinds of art work can be used to make different art works and designs.

How to prepare ceramic cones?

Things needed:
Ceramic powder (available in hardware shops)- 1/2 kg
Fevicol - 1/2 kg
Water - 1 cup
Plastic covers (transparent ones)
Cello tape

Method:
In a shallow mixing bowl take 2 spoons of ceramic powder add 2 spoons of fevicol and 1 spoon of water and mix it well. Add the colour of your choice and mix again. Filter the mixture to remove lump. Make a cone in the plastic cover. Pour the mixture in the cone mildly hit the cone on the floor or wall to remove air. Seal the cone on top with cello tape.

Here are a few items that are decorated using ceramic cones.
