Silk Thread Bridal bangle

When I was asked to make a bridal bangle for an upcoming marriage this June, I was a bit apprehensive to do it as I had started doing them recently. But my friend who is the customer, encouraged me to go ahead and do it in the baby pink colour which is the colour of the saree of the bride. The outcome was awesome. To add more zest to it, I added a few shiny metal bangles too to it.

The full set contains of a total of 7 bangles each in every hand. The bangles are deocated with adhesive stone chains. The best part o these silk thread bangles are they can be customised in any colour.

When I started doing black kada type bangles, I was asked me to make them again and again. And here is one such black beauty kada with pearl chain and golden thread decoration. A simple design but will look grand when worn. Goes well with salwars as well as sarees. These bangles are normally worn in single hand and watch is worn in the other.

Black beauty in silk thread

Certain things definitely go viral and one among them is any accessory in black. Normally in Indian families that too in South Indian Tamil families, black is not considered an auspicious colour, but it attracts many women, and they prefer to have dresses and accessories in black. When I first made a black bangle in silk thread, I never knew that it will go this viral and will sell a few lot of such black sets. The speciality of black colour accessory is that it could be worn with any colour.

I am sharing the first silk thread black set that I made. This is not a kada type bangle but two big bangles. I have used black goti thread to wrap the bangle and golden single ply thread to make the decoration wrap around it.

Size: 2.6

The person who wanted this kind of bangle is some one who loves to be simple in attire. But when she wore it this def gave a majestic look.

Combination Silk Thread bangle set

I had a feeling that I am not doing the silk thread weaving properly after I made this set. Every work is a learning. process. Though I am not happy with the work, I wanted to post it to in the blog as that is also one of the works that I have made. The gold bangle is decorated with silver lace. The bangle size is 2.10

How to find your bangle size

When I started making silk thread bangles I wanted the size of bangles people wear to make the right size for them. Many people found it difficult to tell me their bangle size. After searching the net, I found out an information, which was a learning for me too. I am sure people will be benefitted by this.

How Can I Find My Bangle Size?
To determine your bangle size, follow these steps:
STEP 1: Close your fingers together and bring your thumb to your little finger (as pictured). Pretend that you were putting on a bangle
STEP 2: Using a strip of paper or tape measurements, wrap it around your hand at the widest point.. If you are using a plain strip of paper, mark your size with a pen on that paper. Then measure that paper strip with a ruler. That would be the circumference of your hand.
STEP 3: Compare your hand circumference to the chart below. Purchase a bangle with diameter that is the next size up from your actual hand measurement.
DIAMETER CIRCUMFERENCE SIZE
2 3/8" 7 1/2" Small
2 5/8" 8 1/4" Medium
2 3/4" 8 3/5" Large

Multicolour silk thread bangle

Making of silk thread bangles become another passion after quilling and when the outcome is very impressive it makes me do more and more. The threads that I got from Pune had a spool of multi colour thread. Tried making bangles using that. Made thin bangles of half a dozen using that that. Hope you my viewers and readers to like it.

Bangle size - 2.8

Silk Thread Bangles

After Quilling the next thing I ventured into was making Silk Thread Bangles. As ever never attended any classes learnt it all by myself and it fascinated me a lot. Making these bangles was full of fun. I initially tried with the embroidery thread that I had at home. Then one of my friend suggested that I try it with silk thread bangles and so I purchased an array of threads from one of my friend who is an online supplier. With the threads she sent me I started trying making silk thread bangles and my first try was making a bangle in yellow with red flower stones.
