Quilled envelopes

Though I have not done a lot of quilled envelopes I did try a few designs and have gifted them too. The ones that I was able to capture a picture are the ones below. I am waiting to try my hands on ornate quilling on envelopes. Hope I get a chance to do soon.

Beaded sets in blue and white pearl

When my niece saw the beaded set with golden beads  she wanted me to make one for the silk paavadai she will be wearing the next day for the function. And she was very particular that it should accompany with a matching dangler too.

And when a cutie pie asks for such a wonderful piece, how can I say NO. And here is what I made for her.

One inch Ganesha

Ganesha is one of my favourite and making Ganesha image in any size comes quite easily for me. When I got an order to make 50 Ganeshas in green colour, I just made one small Ganesha in 1 inch which I named Bal Ganesha.

I made it using 3mm green colour strips.

Ganesha in leaf

I am always fascinated by Maavilai Thoranam. So I wanted to try one. And after making the leaf I felt it to be very plain. So I made a Ganesha to fit the leaf and I pasted on the leaf. Though ofcourse i plan to make a dozen such leaves and convert it to thoranam, currently I have not made more than one. But this Ganesha can also be used as single hangling too.

Total number of green strips used are around 15. The leaf is made using combing technique.

Used 5 mm green strips to make the leaf and a contrast combination for the leaf. And when I shared the image to a customer, she too ordered one. So here are both the images of Ganesha on leaf.

Triple layer jhumka

The normal trend is making a two layer jhumka, but a triple layer jhumka is even more elegant with certain dresses. Though I am particularly not happy with the trial, the little girl who wanted me to make one for her grabbed it happily.

Green and gold quilled jhumka

Certain colour combinations always attract us very much. One such combination is green and gold. Be it in dress or in any other accessory this definitely is attractive and the wearer gets a second look too.

Infact when you are making jhumkas with two different coloured strips you need to be careful with the right and wrong side else there will be ups and downs. Rub your finger gently over both the sides the right side of the strip will be smooth and the wrong side will have a slight curve. Unless this is followed the jhumka will not be a perfect dome.
