Quilled necklace with 3 mm strip

My previous try of the necklace was made using 5 mm strips. Saw this design in FB by one of the quillers who owns a page named ShuCreations. This is one of my dream design, though I have not made it the right way that I have seen in the original picture. But still the outcome when I used 3mm strips was awesome.

Designs for Christmas

One of Facebook aquaintance asked me to show her a few designs for Christmas. Though I was not one of the lucky ones to bag the bulk order which she had promised, still I am happy to make these designs. These were then converted as book marks. Struck to ice cream sticks and messages written on them. These can also be converted into mobile charms or fridge magnets too.

A flowery magnet

You cannot stop trying out the different techniques of combing once you start learning it and here is a flower that I made using the same combing technique (Tutorial soon). The centre is made of tight brown coil of 5 mm strip and the petals of yellow 5 mm strips. It took almost 30 mins to complete all the petals. But making this was definitely fun. Converted this a fridge magnet.

Angel to bring you good luck

Angels are considered to bring in good luck and blessings. And my quest to make more and more miniatures kept itching and so on search in the net, saw an image of angel. And now you have to make a wings for the angel, how to do it is the next question. The face, the body can be quilled and coned accordingly. But the wings and the ring on top posed a challenge to me and again another search in the net, showed me combing technique using a quilling comb and use of border buddy. But I dont have any of these two tools, so again started a search for alternatives. But all along I kept learning the techniques and practicing them too. The second trial got me a good result of a beautiful wing. (Tutorials for the same and the alternative tool usage will be posted soon). And for the ring, I used a pencil. And here is my beautiful angel.

Gold necklace in Quilling

All that glitteers is not gold. Hope all will  agree with that and that proved with my trial into making different designs in quilling continues and one such is making a choker using quilling strips. How much ever I tried, I was not able to bring out the effect I wanted in circles or tear drops. So I decided to plait 3 golden strips to give the effect of thin golden chain chocker with a pendant. It really turned out to be good enough and when I wore it none can find out the difference ofcourse from a distance.
